12 Days of Birth: Day 12

“Asking your husband* to be your sole guide through labour is like asking him to lead the way on a climb of Mount Everest. He may be smart and trustworthy, you may love him, but in the Himalayas you’d both be a lot better off with a Sherpa!”

– There is significant evidence that having a doula can improve your birth outcomes, and even make your baby healthier.
– A doula will work with your partner/significant other/primary support person to help them better support you, and lessen their anxiety.
– Doulas support all kinds of birth choices, but if you are looking to have a natural birth at a hospital, having a doula can help you ‘even up’ the odds.
