About Alexa Weeks
Alexa is the mother of two school-age boys, and step-mom to a teenage girl. She was motivated by her own experiences with the many joys and challenges of pregnancy and early parenthood, to pursue a career working with women and families.
She is a certified doula with years of experience supporting individuals and families through pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum period. Alexa believes that birth is a transformative process- welcoming new life, shifting individuals into new roles, and expanding families.
As a doula, her focus is on meeting you where you are at and providing individualized support, education, and resources to promote a more confident and empowered birth experience.
She is honored and grateful for the opportunity to work with so many growing families as they welcome new little ones and navigate the journey from pregnancy through birth, and beyond.
As a doula, Alexa provides non-judgmental support and evidence-based resources; working closely to identify the specific needs and priorities of each client. She approaches doula work with an open-heart, an open-mind, and a dedication to helping women and families transition from pregnancy to parenthood in a way that feels authentic and meaningful to them.
Alexa completed her doula training and certification through Birth Arts International. She has additional training as a certified lactation counselor. Her experience as a nurse, in a hospital-based birthing center, gave her an appreciation for the diverse range of childbirth options and a respect for the process of birth.
As a social worker, she gained experience working with children, adults, and families in a variety of settings. Alexa’s background and specialized training in maternal-child mental health, early-childhood development, pregnancy/infant loss, and bereavement and trauma support continue to shape her approach to supporting families in the Rochester area. Currently, she co-facilitates Parenting Village’s Out of the Blue peer support circle- providing a safe space for expectant/new moms to provide support to each other and to discuss struggles with postpartum adjustment.
Alexa is passionate about yoga, meditation, and mindfulness practices- she is pursuing certification as a yoga teacher beginning this Fall. She also enjoys spending time outdoors with her family, gardening, cooking, and crafting.
